May Construction Update

Great things are happening at the new school site.
  • The work that Wondra Excavating completed during the winter has left an incredible building site.
  • The water and sewer utilities are in place and the electric and gas lines will be completed soon.
  • Storm water lines and ponds have also been placed and the storm water ponds are working as designed.
  • Construction on the first dome began this week.  We will see the stem walls yet this month.

South Industries (the Dome constructor) worked with the architects over the winter to complete the building shell design.
  • Project Manager Jon South has been on site the past week and construction has begun.  Randy South, one of the original patent holders on the dome construction is also on-site working on our project.
  • South Industries will use a mix of their current staff and local laborers.  Local laborers interested in working on the project can contact South Industries.   See related ad on this page for more information.

Design Phases have been completed.
  • We have awarded bids for the majority of the project.  Through the bidding and the work with our architects/engineers, construction manager, and design-build partners, we have built quite an impressive team.  Value engineering continues to ensure the best product for the most economical cost.
  • The design of the Hwy B modifications has been approved by the County Highway Commissioner.  The building permit from the Village of Johnson Creek has also been approved.
  • We will continue to work with the Village on pedestrian and bike access to the site.

Athletic Fields
  • The fundraising for the athletic fields has started.  Information about donation opportunities, including naming rights can be found on our website at:  http://jconeteamonedream.com
  • A kickoff fundraiser will be held on June 24th. Visit the website for more information.
  • Cash, donations can be sent to the District Office and are being kept in a designated fund.
  • Pledge forms and naming rights’ contracts are available by contacting the District office at 920-699-2811.

Commitment

As stated before, the new facility is a long term asset for the community and your School Board and
Administrative Team are committed to making the best decisions based on the most current
information.  Watch for updates in the next issues of the Jay and within the next couple of weeks, our website will also have a camera view of the process.
