Anton/Enger Receive Kohl Fellowship Nomination

This year's nominees from Johnson Creek to receive the Kohl Fellowship Award are special education teacher Krista Anton and Kindergarten teacher Melissa Enger.

The Kohl Teacher Fellowship program recognizes and supports teaching excellence and innovation in the State of Wisconsin. Their goal is to support teachers in the pursuit of their unrealized goals for their classrooms or professional development. Annually, the Foundation awards 100 Wisconsin teachers with $1,000 Kohl Fellowship grants, and each Kohl Fellowship recipient's school receives a matching $1,000 grant. Recipients' professional accomplishments are celebrated at a recognition luncheon in the spring.

Excellence Scholarship and Fellowship recipients are selected by a statewide committee composed of civic leaders, and representatives of education-related associations and the program’s co-sponsors: The Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin Council of Religious and Independent Schools (WCRIS), and regional Cooperative Educational Service Agencies (CESA).

Wisconsin Teacher of the Year Program
The applications of the public school Kohl fellowship recipients will automatically be used as the applicants for the Wisconsin Teacher of the Year program. Four teachers will be selected, one in each of the four categories. These Teachers of the Year will come to Madison to be interviewed to select Wisconsin's nominee to the National Teacher of the Year program.
