Earth Day 2015

Johnson Creek Elementary students participated in Earth Day in various ways this year. On Tuesday, April 28, Ruth Mack from Loeb-Lorman recycling center and scrap metal yard came to our school for an assembly about recycling. She explained to us what happens to aluminum, tin, steel, glass, plastic, and cardboard after we use items in these types of containers. As a part of our Earth Day celebration, various classes cleaned up our school campus and community park downtown. Students also decorated brown paper bags with colorful reminders to make earth-friendly choices. The bags were from Pick n Save in Watertown and Piggly Wiggly in Jefferson. The decorated bags were returned to the stores so they can be distributed to their customers.
