Students Participate in Global Blogging Challenge

Students in Miss Wagner's class are participating in the Global Blogging Challenge. The challenge runs for four weeks and will end on March 27th. The goal is simple: to get students across the globe to express themselves creatively using writing. Each week, students across the world are given the same topic to blog about. Students are then able to share their posts with students from another school. This will also allow students to receive peer feedback on their writing.

Through the process, the students are learning about online safety, "netiquette," and of course the writing process; all while having a broader audience to read their work.

Students in Johnson Creek are using the blogging platform "KidBlog." This allows for a teacher-moderated, secure environment. The only people that can view our students' blogs are those classes that Miss Wagner gives access to. This is an excellent safety feature that has been built into the platform. Learning the basics now will allow for the students to eventually transition into a more sophisticated and public blogging platform such as Blogger or Wordpress.
