Food Science Students Visit Seneca Foods

Today, students in the Food Science course visited Seneca Foods in Clyman.  Students toured the processing facilities to learn about the processing of canned foods.  Seneca Foods was preparing to process potatoes and beets to be placed in glass jars, aluminum cans, and 4 oz and 7 oz plastic cups.  The tour included looking at the processing equipment, a robot controlled canner, sorting machines, labeling machines, and the storage facilities.  Students then toured the quality control lab, where they were able to taste products that are processed at the facilities.  As a gift, students received a duffle bag, a drawstring bag, pens, highlighters and many more gifts.  Thank you to Seneca foods for a great tour!
