Future Business Leaders Compete in Chilton

Today, students from Johnson Creek's Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter traveled with Watertown and Beaver Dam's FBLA chapters to Chilton High School to compete against 800 other students in the Regional Leadership Conference.

While at the conference, members attended an opening session by John Werner, a local business professional, and then competed in their events. FBLA has over sixty events for members to choose from. Students can take a written test on economics or give a presentation on Business Ethics. Students prepared for this day by studying and taking practice exams. Students also spent many hours in the business lab practicing and preparing during CaAT time, leading up to the RLC.

Students who placed in the top 3 in their event have qualified to participate in the State Leadership Conference. This year’s State Leadership Conference is being held in La Crosse, WI on April 13 & 14. Students who have competed are on their way to "Step Up to the Challenge". If students can place in the top two at the state conference, they will then qualify for nationals, which will be held in Chicago.

This year's competitors for Johnson Creek were: Abby Hintz and Elyssah Cook, receiving first place in Business Ethics; Sammi Woodward and Alyssa Layton, receiving second place in Public Service Announcement; Madison Graf, receiving fourth place in Help Desk; T.J. Christensen receiving 5th place in Introduction to Technology Concepts; Elysa Doherty, receiving 7th place in Business Math; and Alex David, competing in Personal Finance.
