On November 13th, we had a trainer from WAGS (Wisconsin Academy for Graduate Service Dogs) in Madison present to our school. WAGS is an organization that trains dogs to help improve the quality of life for people with physical disabilities. After the presentation, the students had an opportunity to ask questions of the trainer and interact with the dog in training.
It can be quite costly to train a service dog; so as a service learning activity, we collected pennies during the week of November 3-7 through our “JC Elementary Penny Drive for WAGS.” The response from students and their families was AWESOME! We presented a check for $1517.13 to WAGS at our assembly. Thanks to everyone who supported this cause! Great Job JC Elementary!
