Students Participate in Chess Tournament
Recently, 18 students in the Johnson Creek School district participated in a two day chess tournament. The double-elimination tournament was open to all 7th-12th graders. Players followed chess tournament rules and used new "chess play clocks" purchased by the district. Prizes were funded by a Classroom Innovations Grant from the Johnson Creek Education Foundation. Top players: first place $75 Visa gift card Jamison Richardt; second place $50 AMC Theater gift card Wilder Wichman; third place $30 iTunes gift card Miguel Novo; fourth place $20 Culver's gift card Seth Roberts.
