Creek Elementary Hosts Literacy/Fitness Night

Family Literacy/Fitness Night was held on Friday, February 28 from 6:00-7:30.  Children picked up passports upon arrival and visited the five Olympic-Ring themed rooms. There were many activities including: sight word and Olympic Bingo, board games, read to the READ dog, Making Words and Word Searches, literacy games on iPads and Chromebooks, stories on the Smartboard, books for families to read, Book Walk, etc! The Jefferson County Literacy Committee was here to hand out information and the Johnson Creek Public Library had information out as well. The children took part in physical activities in the gym, played Wii, and visited the healthy snack room. After filling in their passports, the children selected a new book to take home.  During the month of February,  the children took part in a at-home reading challenge, earning gold, silver, and bronze medals for the minutes read. There was also a book exchange during the day. The Friends of our School held the basket raffle. There were approximately 150 students in attendance and fun was had by all! A special thanks goes out to Kohls for donating books for the Book Walk, Sam’s Club for snacks, and Luci Bledsoe for prizes for our Bingo games.
