Students Participate in FFA Week

Johnson Creek FFA members “Went All Out!” during the National FFA Week!  National FFA Week is an opportunity for FFA members, alumni and sponsors to advocate for agricultural education and the FFA.  Johnson Creek members advocated for their chapter by hosting a wide variety of activities.

On Saturday, February 21st, Ms. Sambs and nine FFA members went to the UW-Badger Men’s hockey match in Madison.  The FFA provided pizza and drinks, and then headed to the match.  Even though the Badger’s lost, the members had a great time.

On Monday, the FFA started their penny war to benefit the Humane Society of Jefferson County.  Each grade level 6-12 competed in the contest, and the group with the most money won ice-cream on Friday.  The penny war raised $158.00, which will be donated to the humane society.

On Tuesday, we had the first ever Ag Olympics.  The whole school was invited to attend the Olympics, which was held during the “study hall” time.  There were four contests: pedal tractor races, milk chugging, pie eating, and donut eating contest.  There were many people that participated, and helped spread the word about FFA week.

Wednesday, every FFA member who wore their FFA T-shirt was provided with donuts, milk, and juice for breakfast.  There were over 20 members who participated.

On Thursday, we had a member cookout during lunch.  The FFA provided brats, hot dogs, hamburgers, and drinks, and the members brought a dish to pass.

Friday was an early morning for FFA members.  They met at the HS at 5:45 a.m. to make breakfast for the teachers and staff.  The breakfast was much appreciated by all who attended.  Later that night, members met in Jefferson for cosmic bowling.
