Dear Parents and Guardians,
It’s that time of year again for the staff to meet with you in the parent-teacher format. Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Monday, October 13th from 1-8 PM. We are looking forward to sharing information on your child and to discuss accomplishments and concerns.
This year, we want to give you the opportunity to meet with Focus Area teachers, as well as your child’s homeroom teacher. Over the past few years, our staff has been involved in intensive professional development to specialize in reading and math. Half of our staff is specialized in math and the other in reading. During the school day, during 2 extended periods, your child is taught by a specialist in a multi-age setting based on his/her needs and abilities. This is a flexible grouping that changes every few weeks depending on units presented. Because math and reading are core areas, we want you to have an understanding of what your child is learning. We have set up a schedule so you can meet with these focus area teachers.
In 4K, the teachers will be holding scheduled conferences as they are not doing any rotating.
In 5K and grade 1, teachers will be stationed in rooms so that you can meet with the homeroom teacher and then the focus teacher during a scheduled time.
In grades 2-5, all conferences will be in the main building. Reading teachers will be in rooms on the right side of the upper hallway and math teachers on the left side of the hallway. This will allow you to visit both focus teachers. We will schedule some conferences from 1-3 and 6-8 PM. The time from 3-6 will be unscheduled allowing you to come in at your convenience. This time frame may have lines if you are waiting for specific teachers as these are not scheduled.
We ask that you return the conference sign-up to your child’s teacher so we can set a schedule.
We also realize October 13th may not work with your schedule and we would be happy to do a phone conference or schedule another date and time.
We are looking forward to meeting with you on the 13th and sharing your child’s progress.
