Rochelle Mitchell and Theresa Copp covered theses financial areas through a game entitled “Survivor Island”. Students were placed in groups of four and decided as a team what is actually needed to survive on a deserted island. The teams have a budget and need to remain inside the budget as well as have all the needed items to survive.
Natalie Ortega, a fifth grade student in Mrs. Toebe’s class said about today’s lesson, “I learned that I need to spend my money wisely in the future.”
Jack Dotzler, a fifth grade student in Mrs. Scheibel’s class also added that, “I learned that needs should always come before wants.”
Thank you to Premier Bank, Rochelle Mitchell, and Theresa Copp for presenting this lesson to the fifth grade students.
