Blue Jay Update: Earth Day Special


This week, Johnson Creek Elementary students celebrated Earth Day by participating in various projects. Some classes walked to various locations in the community to pick up trash while the younger grades stayed back to clean up on campus. The 5th graders helped by adding fresh mulch to the courtyard area outside the school.

Each grade also focused on a main theme for Earth Day and put on a presentation during the all school assembly. Some of these topics include: the water cycle (kindergarten), the migration of monarch butterflies (first grade), and learning about Earth Day through poetry (upper grades). Fourth and fifth grade students even made a song to go along with Earh Day. You can see the music video (written by Mrs. Scheibel and performed by the 5th graders) below.
