Elementary Students Create Flag to Commemorate 200th Anniversary of "Star Spangled Banner"

The Giant Flag was made to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the writing of our National Anthem, the "Star Spangled Banner", and to honor our Veterans for the Veteran's Day program. It was made at the request of Mrs. Edington who had emphasized this in Music class. For the past week, the Elementary Student Council and their Advisers, Mrs. and Ms. Braunschweig, planned, made and prepared the flag. They made hundreds of red hands and white stars and passed them out to all of the students and staff. Each person was asked to simply write their name on the hand or star to show that they were proud to be an American! At POPS on Monday, the Student Council Officers assisted each of the Elementary students with sticking their paper hand or star on the flag. It was completed for display for the Veteran's Day Program today, and everyday as a reminder to thank and honor all who serve our country.
